The Westwood Debate and Speech Program has been extremely successful and accordingly, the number of students who participate in the program and attend tournaments continues to rise. While the program receives some funding from the school and the district, these funds cover only a small portion of what is needed. In addition to the student fees paid by parents, the students and Booster club actively work to raise additional funds by hosting fundraisers and obtaining donations. Westwood Debate and Speech Boosters is a non-profit organization, a 501(c)(3) entity, which means that donations are tax-deductible. Our EIN (Employee Identification Number) is 61-1531801.
Historically the Booster Club and students have worked together on a variety of projects to raise funds for the Westwood Debate and Speech Program including hosting car washes, hosting a dinner, silent auction and participating in a "Phone-a-thon".
This year 2009-2010, we have four events planned for fundraising:
Fall Fund Raiser –We will have a Silent Auction Fall Fund Raiser on October 10 at the Balcones Country Club. So please mark your calendars.
Spring UIL - Westwood will host a major UIL academic tournament. This is our biggest fundraiser.
Car Decal - We will be taking orders for those who wish to buy them.
T-Shirts – We had a small Debate T- shirt logo designing contest for the students in the debate class The winning logo will be printed on the Debate T-shirt. The winner of contest will be announced today and we will be taking orders for those who wish to buy them.
We hope you will give your full support and participate in these events.
